On May 30 to June 1, 2025, Matthieu Bonne of Belgium broke the "unbreakable" 48-hour World Record, set by Yiannis Kouros in 1996. With 485.099 km he followed up the 6-day World Record that he set in Hungary last year. The 48-hour record was set during the GOMU 48-hour World Championship at UltraPark Weekend in Pabianice, Poland.

Belgium may be a small country, but once again, it showed the world the strength of its endurance athletes. Merijn Geerts, Ivo Steyaert, and Frank Gielen decided to stop together after 110 yards, sharing a new world record and leading Team Belgium to a resounding victory in the 2024 Backyard Ultra Team World Championships.

At the GOMU-EMU Six Day World Championship in Balatonfüred, Hungary on September 5-11 2024, 30-year old Belgian runner Matthieu Bonne broke the Six Day running record. His result was 1046.31 km (650.1 miles). The previous record was held by legendary ultrarunner Yiannis Kouros (1036.8 km, 2005).

On 26 August to 1 September 2024, the Danish village of Aabybro was filled with people, when Stine Rex attempted to break the Six Days world record. She finished with 913.606 km (567.688 miles), longer than any woman has run in six days before. The world record is to be ratified by the IAU.

It was a race for the ages. The drama when three women became two, and with Stine Rex and Irina Masanova within 4 minutes of each other during the entire 6-7 last hours of the race. They pushed each other up to and beyond Camille Herron's World Record. With 435.564 km, Stine Rex superseded that record by 228 metres... And she was only 652 metres ahead of Masanova...

In August 2021, Aleksandr Sorokin from Lithuania became the second person ever to reach beyond 300 km. With 309.399 km he surpassed Yiannis Kouros' World Record with 6 km.
